News from Ekoenergetyka

The 80kW device quickPoint DEPOT CHARGER made especially for the competition by Ekoenergetyka charged new Urbino 12 Electric in Brussels from 30th May to 3rd June, while the bus was judged by the 20-persons jury. For the first time in history of the competition the title was given to an electric bus, and for the first time the “Bus of the Year” was made by a Polish manufacturer.

The “Bus of the Year” competition is organised every two years by the Association of Commercial Vehicle Editors and chooses the best bus available on sale in Europe the year after. The 20-persons jury tested vehicles over the course of 5 days on the routes established in the city, judging acceleration, breaking, vibrations and travel comfort. New Solaris Urbino 12 electric, charged by an Ekoenergetyka charger and equipped with 240kWh batteries, competed and won agaist buses from Mercedes, Ebusco, Irizar and Van-Hool.

The 80kW mobile plug-in device that charged Urbino 12 during the competition was connected to an especially made charging mast equipped with pantograph via Combo 2 plug. CEO of Ekoenergetyka Bartosz Kubik said: “”Bus of the Year” title given to an electric bus sends an important signal to cities and transport operators: their city vehicles can be quiet, emissions-free and frictional. As a company we are pleased that we could contribute to the winning of Urbino 12 by providing it with seamless charging service during breaks from driving.”

And he added: ““Bus of the Year” competition was a great opportunity for us to present our new generation quickPoint DEPOT CHARGER, a device that is made of modules, which ensure uninterrupted charging experience for the bus; and one that is 30% than it’s earlier version. Supporting Solaris Urbino 12 during the competition, we showed that an electric bus supported by infrastructure has enough autonomy for urban needs and is an excellent alternative to diesel-powered buses.”

QuickPoint City Charger is part of the whole family of scalable devices offered by Ekoenergetyka, with chargers ranging from 20kW for bus depot to those with 450kW for charging bus stops. They are deployed all over Europe, from Barcelona through Berlin to Warsaw, and have so far delivered over 5MW to electric buses.
